When the Anglo-Saxons came to Britain, they also brought with them a new language, called Old English. This was a mix of Frisian and Saxon.
But the Saxons also used runes for when they were writing fancy manuscripts or decorating the pommels of their swords. Below is the Anglo-Saxon Futharc. It's called a futharc because of the first few letters in this alphabet.
