The Anglo-Saxons were a Germanic cultured people. Their houses were simple. They did not build with stone and masonry, except for sometimes using it on the foundations of their houses. The Anglo-Saxons used wood for everything. They even had letters in their alphabet named after wood! The only time stone construction was used was for creating churches.
When the Anglo-Saxons first came to Britain, they were pagans, like the rest of the Germanic tribes of the time. The names of the weekday are named after Anglo-Saxon gods.
